Unique in its kind in France (and the world) the BILIPO is a public library devoted entirely to Crime and spy literature. It plays a unique role in the conservation of a long neglected cultural heritage. It provides both important holdings in crime fiction ( spy and detective novels) in French and foreign languages and reference books on criminology , forensics , true crime , police and justice. It was created in 1995 from the collections dedicated to crime literature constituted from 1984 in the nearby Mouffetard library and kept acquiring new titles thanks to the legal deposit and to the acquisition of valuable collections. Its objective is to keep the entire production of Crime Fiction published in France. It regularly organizes thematic exhibitions to promote its unique and original collections. It holds archives, original documents and records and presents an invaluable resource for researchers.
Its holdings comprise of:
